9 March 2021 - This edition of FreeFACTS looks at the matric results for 2020 as well as a number of historical trends. Flagged are the very small number of people who pass key subjects such as Mathematics with high marks and the low rate of educational throughput.
3 March 2021 – This memorandum sets out the facts around the government’s financial crisis, and raises the spectre of a tax revolt and investment revolt should the government proceed with tax increases and asset seizures.
26 February 2021 – The IRR’s submission to Parliament, urging a fundamental rethink on the Expropriation Bill of 2020, and making the case for amendments to bring it into line with the Constitution.
23 January 2021 - The first FreeFACTS of the 2021 looks at the quality of life of South Africans. Using a measure determined by the Centre for Risk Analysis it shows that there are (sometimes significant) regional and racial cleavages in the quality of life experienced by South Africans, partly because of our history, and partly because of the growth-destroying policies which the government has followed over the past ten years.
3 February 2021 – This special report warns that the government’s new Expropriation Bill is a draconian measure that must be stopped before it can be used to strip millions of South Africans of their homes and other assets without fair procedures or equitable compensation.
28 January 2021 - This edition of FreeFACTS looks at South Africa’s rankings of various index which attempt to measure how free we are. South Africa does fairly well in terms of political freedom, but in economic freedom terms, we could be doing substantially better, reflected in the poor economic performance of the past decade.
3 December 2020 - This edition of FreeFACTS looks at how South Africans receive information, with a focus on radio and television penetration. In the wake of the collapsing SABC the report shows the vast majority of South Africans still receive their information on one of these two mediums.
25 November 2020 - This argues that women in Africa remain excluded from the benefits of property ownership, and this must receive the attention of policy makers and society at large.
23 November 2020 - This edition of FreeFACTS looks at corruption in South Africa. It looks at how South Africa’s ranking on the Corruption Perceptions Index has declined and the vast amounts of money that have been lost die to wasteful expenditure. It argues that corruption is effectively stealing South Africa’s future and citizens must make it clear that there must be a zero-tolerance attitude to corruption.
