You are invited to the launch of the trailer of the film 'Tainted Heroes' on Wednesday, 2 December 2015.

Launch of the trailer of the film Tainted Heroes

Tainted Heroes tells the story that the ANC does not want you to know. It focuses on the history of the Soweto uprisings of 1976, the ANC’s reaction to this event and the people’s war that was unleashed in South Africa’s townships during the 1980s, leading up to the release of Nelson Mandela in 1990, which eventually led to the ANC’s succession to power in 1994.

The film will be released early in 2016. It features shocking footage of the violence unleashed by liberation movements during the 1980s and early 1990s. The film also features interviews with a variety of high-profile ANC veterans, historians and representatives of various sectors of Government during the 1980s.

During the event, you will hear presentations by:

•         Dr Anthea Jeffery, Head of Policy Research at the South African Institute of Race Relations and author of People’s War: New Light on the Struggle for South Africa

•         Strike Thokoane, Deputy President of AZAPO, leader within the Black Consciousness Movement and co-organiser of the Soweto uprisings

•         Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party (formerly known as Inkatha)

A brief of the film will also be screened at the event. A particular focus will be placed on important scenes that had to be deleted from the final product due to time constraints.
